Penny For Your Thoughts

Still Water Claims are close friends of mine so when Nathan from the band asked me to photograph his other project I was more then happy to. The setting was at Coogee beach and I didn't want to draw anything cliche when people think of beach photos. This is what I came up with.

Fall From Glory

I have been pretty slack on the blog updates recently. Going away on tour and not being able to count the last day off you have had effects the amount of blog posts I can do. I can say though that I am wanting to post more and get blogger active again. Below is a photo shoot I did with local band Fall From Glory. It was a pretty straight forward shoot at the Rockingham Salt Lakes - Sometimes simple is best.

Wardaemonic

A weekend ago I was required to put together a series of press kit photos for Wardaemonic as they prepare to announce opening slots for some of the worlds biggest black metal bands. Below is one of the photographs I had shot whilst they were in their rehearsal room.

Adam & Inger

I have known Adam for some time now. He was one of the guys that helped bring me into taking photos at night clubs. A year ago he helped run a alternative club night in Perth and gave me the job of taking photos for it. Adam recently contacted me to take some photos of his girlfriend, Inger, and their pet dogs.

Beside Lights

Had the good opportunity to photograph X Factor competitors Beside Lights a couple of weeks back. They're a great bunch of guys and found it super easy to photograph them. A few weeks later I discovered one of the members is in one of my University classes - I guess business and business does mix. Below is one of my favorite shots from the shoot. It was shot at a popular dim lit cafe called The Moon in Northbridge.

Further Earth

Further Earth was suppose to be the first ever band I was to do promotional photos for. A year later I finally got given the opportunity when my pal Ryan got his shit together and organised something! These guys are a local Perth act and I very much hope they go on to do bigger and better things. I love their sound!

The Getaway Plan

Had the pleasure of working with The Getaway Plan when they toured to Perth to open up for Say Anything. The Getaway Plan are probably one of my favorite Australian bands so it is always a pleasure going to watch them let alone take their picture.

Crooked Colours

Following my friends at Sun City needing new press release photos for ParkLife 2012 my new friends Crooked Colours who also made the announcement needed their first batch of promotional photos. Something a little more vibrant and simple. Candid is always best I find when doing these sort of portraits.

Sun City

Good friends Tobes and Daniel which make the band Sun City have just been announced again by ParkLife 2012 so I had to make some fresh press kit photos for them. We went for something a little less serious this time round.

Anti-Flag

Anti-Flag's management emailed me on the announcement of their tour a few months back in regards to organising a photo shoot with them. Being a pretty big fan of Anti-Flag I was extremely blown back to be given this opportunity.

Dream On, Dreamer

My friends Still Water Claims were opening up for Melbourne post-hardcore band Dream On Dreamer last friday night so 'D.O.D's management took it upon the opportunity to do some promotional photos with me in Fremantle. Top quality guys.

Sick Of It All

Have been fairly busy with a lot of work recently as well as trying to stay on top of study so posting on this blog has become a bit infrequent but good news is next week is the last week of Uni for the Semester so will be blogging a tonne more. I recently did a promotional photo for New York hardcore band Sick Of It All. Had to shoot within the venue with a 5 minute time frame.

10 Past 6

Been getting a lot of work recently with my photography which means I haven't been getting much time to be updating this blog as I would of liked. I have now directed my domain 'www.maxfairclough.com' to my portfolio and this blog now has it's seperate domain as 'www.maxfaircloughblog.com'. Below is one of the photos taken of a Perth band called 10 Past 6. Really love these guys and they're great to have a laugh with. Shit got sticky.

Deez Nuts

Had been discussing with Tour and Artist managers from WeAreUnified for about two months to organise this shoot. Both parties seemed pretty keen on having me photograph their band so on Saturday we were finally able to nail down some promotional photos. JJ and the boys from Deez Nuts are pretty down to earth dudes. I was invited to dinner as well as party backstage with them at their show.

Winterfold

I have been wanting to use flares in one of my photo shoots for months now and have finally found a band that was tailored correctly for it. Fortunately they were quite happy with my idea and went along with it. I am still yet to edit these photos but you can see how cool these are going to come out. A special mention goes to the indigenous man who attacked us for standing on his land.

The Loved Dead

This past month my good friend Anthony Jackson (Birds of Tokyo) and myself have been planning this shoot. After countless days of creative thoughts we were able to nail them in yesterday morning when we finally got round to taking the picture. An early 4am wake up call on a Sunday seemed quite ridiculous but it produced the photograph we all wanted.

Reece Mastin

I shot Jessica Mauboy and Reece Mastin at a regional concert for the city of Cockburn. My job for the night was to photograph live and behind the scenes shots. I managed to work out a promotional photo for Reece in his private dresser in the space of about 30 seconds.

Dyatlov

Dyatlov is a Perth band named after nine hikers who mysteriously died in the Ural mountains in Russia back in 1959. They have been playing music together for about a year and have remained a little quiet until now. I was messaged by one of the boys in the band, Aj Teo, to organise some promotional photos for them.

Against The Tide

Two weeks back I did promo photos for Against The Tide on location in the city. Originally it was just going to be an on location shoot but they decided they wanted to have studio shots too. This is what I have come up with so far.

Still Water Claims

It has been a very exciting week for me as a photographer. In the last few days I have had confirmation to photograph Canadian artist Lights Poxleitner backstage in June, Deez Nuts backstage in April, American punk band Anti-Flag promotional photos in May and just today I have been told to do a new set of photos for my great friends in Still Water Claims as they will now be featured in Blunt magazine. I am really excited about the next few months to come. Below is a promo photo I did for Still Water Claims late last year.

Matt Corby

Sydney's Matt Corby played in Perth last week and it was my duty to photograph him throughout the set. Unfortunately the crowd managed to jump up in front of my camera with every opportunity they got so the only options was for me to shoot behind stage.

Post India

It has taken me some time to get these photos up on this page and there is still plenty more to be shared. This is something I could of imagined would of been done straight away upon returning from my trip but to be honest the whole experience of India has worn and torn me to the point where I don't really want to think about it. The experience itself has really given me a negative view on India. Perhaps it was the last two weeks spent in the country sick, perhaps the lack of trust I had for our tour guides who would bring us to places purely to drain money out of pockets and for them to earn commission or perhaps it was just the way of life in India, very fast paced yet slow at the same time. It is an experience I don't regret doing, but it is very tiring and to be completely true I have been trying to push processing these photos for awhile, if I didn't start on them now I would of never got them done. Here are some photos from my trip to India.

Against The Tide

Tuesday I did a new set of promotional photos for the boys in Against The Tide. Here are a few photos I managed to make work with only one light.
