Not exactly Nan Goldin material in terms of my photography skills but I was kinda stoked with the results when I shot this. white balance is set to a really warm setting of about 8500. for those who love contemporary photography you should dig up a book called 'The Devils Playground' - pretty amazing shit. as always everything is cooler with film so enjoy my photoshopped offsets in the first picture.

One of the greatest features the 50mm canon lens has is the ability to directly focus on a subject and blur out the other counter-parts that usually don't make such a great photo. With it's great focal range it makes it one of the best portrait lenses. Was at the rowing shed Wednesday afternoon taking the whole club photo and had my 50mm on me so decided to take some shots of coaches faces. Weird I know.

Meeting alexisonfire was one of the best experiences of my life and it won't ever go un-noted. I still cringe at the thought of sharing drinks with them after their show and discussing their future album. I smile every time I look at this photo. Dallas (City & Colour) show is just 3 weeks away!

Claire Brodie 50mm

Below is claire brodie pub-crawling around northbridge. made a good subject and can't thank her enough. this is shot by me. my first time recording high definition video of any kind.

Claire Brodie

Last night. woah. awesome. I'm finding it difficult to comprehend half the crap we did. as far as I'm concerned it was a great catch up, drinks were awesome, jacks and oranges is the bomb, my camera is the best thing in the world and these two girls are just one of kind. and I love it. haven't got round to editing these photos yet which is a shame - but to be honest I really just cannot be bothered to. there is a HD video i'm also editing that was taken last night... it's going to be so good! meet claire & sharna.

Talon Driscoll

This is a black & white portrait shot I did of talon driscoll whilst he was perth a few months back. talon tends to do nothing with himself. he's often found down south bodyboarding the big surf. he has adopted the nickname "el rollo" (spanish for the roll) among the locals for a big trick he landed last year. pretty much he hit the lip of a wave and progressed to do a backflip but instead rolled over onto his side like free willy and shat nacho's out of his bum hole. el rollo I wish you the best for your future endeavours!

Gypsy Head Tattoo

Hey guys no photography for you today but something a little different that I want to share with you. Below is a gypsy head outline I've been wanting to get tattoo'd on me for ages. a guy called sam phillips has sketched it up and is in the process of colouring it in. I think it's really rad and I reckon will look good when I get it tatt'd at the back of my arm sometime in the next month or two when I've finished paying for my flights, sold my car, bought a new camera etc. The head is that of lights poxleitner and the script is from a song called 'Happiness by the Kilowatt' by alexisonfire and it is based on a short-story by some fucked up dude. just google it. Update: Yo just got sent the full-colour version this morning and it rocks! check it below.

Mary Mother of God

Was chillin' with mary today. she got a little bit crazy. we pretty much stayed in all day today doing online uni work and figuring out how to complete passport/visa forms. mary wanted to play with my little 50mm. mary got a little anxious and thus asked me to take photos of her. this one came out nice.

Cats Make Purfect Friends

Luke Baker is the dude who convinced me to buy the 50mm lens I keep talking about. and to tell the truth; it is the best fucking buy I've done in a while. the sharpness and quality is beyond amazing and for the 100 or so dollars you spend on it I can assure you it's worth every cent. been sitting at home all day so haven't got to use it as much as I would of liked but I did manage to snap one of the cats that run around my joint. unfortunately I don't train my cats to model like luke does (example). so please deal with the amateur model kittens. meow.

Fix Your Face

I don't usually like to put up photos of places I've previously been. pretty much because I want to keep people excited and refreshed to see new places and things on this blog. however I can make an exception for these photos as I think they came out fairly good.

I really like taking pictures of people who tend to do things a little differently. my friend sean is a hard person to shoot as he hates having his photo taken so when it came round to taking his photo this morning he pulled a stupid face not expecting me to take it in time. unlucky.

today I also bought myself a prime lens. the 50mm f/1.8 so expect some really super sharp images in the next few blog posts. the one of seans girlfriend, rachel, below is shot with the 50mm.

Heading for the Sun

Yo Perth! nothing is really happening. I really wanted to find something cool to do today and shoot but as always we are lacking in excitement here in our beautiful city. below are pictures from this morning where I coach a rowing crew on the swan river located in east perth. and further below are pictures of some union dudes on strike.

next week is a real big one for me. on the monday I shoot a close friend (wont disclose who just yet) and that will be a really big thing for me because the imagery is going to be super-strong and striking. I will make sure of it! been planning this one out all week and can't wait for it! it's going to be really dark and out there. can't wait to share it with you guys.
